Chocolate Dipped Strawberries & Pretzels
Fun Fact: I literally cannot bake to save my life. Unless it comes pre-measured and in a box, there's a 99.9999% chance that I will mess it up somehow.
I have a weird habit of cooking with instinct rather than strategically measuring every ingredient. Typically, this doesn't cause an issue. But with baking, everything has to be SO exact in order to cook properly.
So I have come to the conclusion that I was not born with that talent and I should stick to fool-proof desserts like these chocolate covered treats.
You can make these simple or you can go wild with the decorations. The opportunities are endless.

RECIPE:
ingredients:
- large box of strawberries
- wilton's candy melts: dark, milk, white (1 bag each)
- jumbo pretzels
- sunflower oil
- sprinkles
- wax paper
- cupcake papers
instructions:
- wash the strawberries and lay them out to dry on a paper towel
- take 1/2 bag of dark candy melts and 1/2 bag of milk candy melts and place them in a microwave-safe bowl
- microwave on 50% power for 45 seconds, stir with a whisk, repeat
- you may need to make another batch of chocolate halfway through coating the strawberries
- cover all the strawberries in a coat of the melted chocolate and place them on a piece of wax paper to harden
- TIP: make sure the A/C is on while you make these!
- take the giant pretzels and half-dip them in chocolate
- you can either roll in sprinkles or keep them plain, set on the wax paper to harden
- take another microwave-safe bowl and fill it with 1/2 bag of white candy melts
- microwave on 50% power for 45 seconds, stir with a whisk, repeat
- mix in a generous amount of sunflower oil, stir again with whisk (this will help the consistency to allow it to drizzle)
- take a ziplock bag and fill it with the melted white candy coating, zip it shut
- cut a tiny piece off the corner of the filed ziplock bag
- use this as a make-shift piping bag and drizzle white chocolate back and forth to create a nice drizzled pattern on the strawberries and pretzels
- once everything has hardened, cover with plastic wrap until ready to serve
I serve my chocolate dipped treats in little cupcake papers in order to keep it clean & make it look pretty.
I hope you have fun with this! Something about late-night dessert-making soothes the soul.
