Detox Drink
You know when you're flooded with anxiety thinking about all the pasta, wine, french fries and beer you consumed over the weekend and suddenly, at that moment, you feel as if you've gained about 17.499 lbs? Yeah, me too.
That's when I turned to a blogger that I have been loving lately and that's Lauren Evarts, creator of The Skinny Confidential. She has an amazing podcast and in one episode, she explained the recipe for her "detox drink".
I took inspiration from that and decided to cultivate my own detox drink recipe. So here's the secret to the mix that'll really get things... moving... if you know what I mean.
All ingredients used can be found at Trader Joe's (per usual)
Happy Detoxing! xoxo
RECIPE:
ingredients:
- 1/2 grapefruit
- 1 lemon
- tumeric powder
- cayenne pepper
- handful of mint leaves
- 1/4 cup cucumber mint sparkling apple cider vinegar
- 1 cup water
- LOTS of ice
- mason jar and re-useable straw (optional)
instructions:
- fill the mason jar with lots of ice cubes, about 2/3 full
- remove the seeds and squeeze the grapefruit juice into the jar
- slice the lemon in half and set 1/2 aside, squeeze the other half into the jar
- cut the remaining lemon half into circles for the jar to make it pretty
- throw in a handful of mint leaves
- mix in the apple cider vinegar and stir
- sprinkle in some turmeric & cayenne powder to your liking
And that's it!
This will be most effective in benefits if you drink this first thing in the morning. But, let's be real, I'm not a morning person and enjoy an extra 5 min in bed.
I usually drink mine at night before bed and have seen noticeable, positive changes in my digestion, skin, and overall mood.
